South West Red Wine

Between the Bordeaux region and the Pyrénées, the South-West is a traditional wine region, probably even older than its (now) more famous neighbour.  But today wines from South West of France are of excellent quality and offer supurb value.  Region as a whole comprises 16,000 hectares (40,000 acres) and the predominent red grapes are: Cabernet, Merlot, Tannat.  The Madiran sub region produces a wonderful full body red wine.
