Western Cape is the large wine region around Cape Town which is responsible for producing most of South Africa’s quality wine. The cooling Atlantic breezes provide perfect conditions for varieties such as Chenin Blanc. The wines are not quite as acidic as their Loire counterparts but the increased exposure to the sun tends to lend them more weight and fruit and therefore consumer appeal.
