Description
Vignerons de Bel-Air is a leading Beaujolais producer, headed by Philippe Marx, and has won numerous awards for wine quality whilst retaining their reputation for value for money. This wine is a special release with Terra Vitis accreditation.
The Terra Vitis symbol shows the wine has reached a high standard for its sustainable and environmentally friendly production. This approach began in the Beaujolais region in 1998 and has spread throughout France. It is not only a focus on training and tending vines in a sustainable way, but encompasses all aspects of wine production from the protecting the biological life of the soils to corporate social responsibility for employees and other workers. As such the remit extends far beyond organic winemaking to include both ethics and sustainability. More details can be found on the organisation’s website: terravitis.com/?lang=en
As one might expect given its enviromental credentials, this seductive red has more character and complexity than many wines from the Beaujolais-Villages appellation. It has a rich, textured mouth-feel with cherry and redcurrant flavours and notes of blackberry and wild strawberry. There is an attractive aromatic dimension to the fruit and complex notes of exotic spice. Supple and very drinkable, this wine will appeal to those new to Beaujolais as much as those who have enjoyed it for years.
