Description
Greenhough is a small organic producer based in the north-west of New Zealand’s South Island. For over 25 years they have been crafting authentic Nelson wines, with a style more reminiscent of the Loire than Marlborough Sauvignon. The wines have complexity and depth with an attractive elegance and persistance. Just 5% of the wine is aged in oak barrels, to round out the flavours and give a little creaminess without losing the freshness.
This has a classic Marlborough style with passion fruit, melon and citrus flavours but with additional notes of freshly cut grass and aromatic herbs from the Nelson terroir. Tasted blind we found that this Sauvignon sits happily alongside the very best that New Zealand has to offer.
“Showing excellent ripeness and a light touch of silkiness on the palate⦠Nectarine and melon notes are joined by citrus flavors in this medium-bodied wine, which finishes with refreshing acids and lingering hints of tangerine.” 90/100 pts – robertparker.com
